THE VILLAGE
The village of Penallt is an ancient community sparsely spread over the Welsh side of Wye Valley. We are a border community but few around here get too hung-up on the English-Welsh thing. (Apart from when they put international Rugby matches on the village telly.... then it's murder!!)
One of the best bits about living here is that we are on something of a forgotten loop of road -- there's no "through traffic" the only cars are the ones which are actually coming to the village.
Perhaps the greatest assets in the village are two outstanding country pubs. For us, both have been the scene of many, many fantastic nights out. If a decent boozer is an important factor in your choice of holiday destination then you are looking in the right place!

On a different note, there's the tiny, beautiful Penallt Old Church which is a short walk from the Chicken Shed. It is a quiet, peaceful sanctuary with wonderful views.
More practically, there is a lovely village shop a mile away from the Chicken Shed in Redbrook.
Thet are really friendly and it is accessible by crossing the river via the footbridge.
